Q+A with Roger Barbeau, Compugen’s National Senior Manager, Advanced Solutions, Modern Workspace

Can you elaborate on the significance of Windows 11 in the context of organizational productivity and security, particularly in light of the upcoming end of support for Windows 10?

Windows 11 represents a pivotal shift in both functionality and security for today's organizations. With the upcoming end of support for Windows 10, it becomes imperative for businesses to transition to ensure they remain on supported technology.

Windows 11 isn’t just an operating system upgrade; it’s a transformative platform that enhances productivity through a user-centric design. The new interface, with features like Snap Layouts and virtual desktops, intuitively aligns with the way our teams work today, helping reduce cognitive load and streamline processes for better workflow management.

From a security standpoint, Windows 11 is foundational, offering a robust security framework that starts from the chip and extends to the cloud. This level of integration provides businesses with a resilient defense against modern threats, something that's becoming increasingly critical as cyber threats evolve.

Moreover, Windows 11 is designed to be future proof, supporting not just the hardware of today, but also of tomorrow. It's built to leverage cutting-edge technologies like Copilot AI and advanced Intel processors, ensuring that as new capabilities emerge, Windows 11 can harness them to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency. The regular updates offered post-Windows 10 will also continue to enhance these features, maintaining system stability and security.

Transitioning to Windows 11 is not merely about staying updated, it's about securing a competitive edge in innovation and ensuring ongoing productivity enhancements in our operations. It's a strategic investment in your technological infrastructure that prepares you for future advancements and challenges.

How does Intel's Neural Processing Unit (NPU) contribute to enhancing AI performance and efficiency, and how can organizations leverage this technology in conjunction with Windows 11?

Upgrading to Windows 11 brings a suite of benefits, but it may also introduce challenges, particularly around hardware compatibility and security.

One of the key hurdles is ensuring that existing hardware meets the new system requirements for Windows 11, which are notably more demanding than those for previous versions. This may often mean significant hardware upgrades or replacements for many organizations to harness the full capabilities of the new OS.

A security specific requirement that poses a challenge for many is the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version 2.0 requirement. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 to bolster security features, including hardware-based isolation, encryption, and malware prevention. This requirement ensures that the device is more secure against sophisticated attacks, but it also means that older systems without TPM 2.0 support might need to be replaced or upgraded, which can be a logistical and financial burden.

It’s crucial for organizations to perform thorough compatibility checks and hardware assessments well before deploying the upgrade. Collaborating with  Compugen can help manage these transitions more effectively, providing the necessary consulting and strategic guidance to navigate these changes smoothly.

Could you explain how Intel is actively involved in building software and hardware ecosystems for AI across different platforms, and how this aligns with the transition to Windows 11?

Intel is deeply involved in creating a robust ecosystem that supports software and hardware integration across various platforms. This commitment is especially evident in their collaboration with Microsoft to optimize Windows 11 for AI enhancements.

Intel's development of the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is a cornerstone of this strategy. The NPU is designed to handle intensive AI tasks more efficiently, thereby reducing the load on the main CPU and enabling more sophisticated AI functionalities. By integrating this technology with Windows 11, Intel ensures that these capabilities are seamlessly accessible on a wide range of devices, enhancing the overall user experience and system performance.

Furthermore, Intel supports the AI ecosystem through initiatives like the OpenVINO toolkit, which offers developers powerful tools to develop and deploy AI applications quickly across the entire Intel architecture, from edge devices to data centers. This toolkit is crucial for creating applications that can run efficiently on Windows 11, leveraging the hardware acceleration provided by the NPU.

These efforts aligned with Microsoft’s push to integrate AI across its platforms, including Windows, Office, and Azure, creating a cohesive environment where AI and machine learning not only thrive but also drive significant advancements in how businesses operate.

In what ways do you foresee the integration of AI and Intel technologies shaping the future of organizational operations, particularly in terms of automation and productivity?

Pairing Intel's advanced AI hardware with Microsoft's sophisticated software is revolutionizing organizational productivity and automation.

With tools like M365 Copilot integrated into everyday apps like Outlook and Excel, we’re now automating tasks that once took hours, in minutes. This boosts efficiency letting us focus on more strategic goals.

With Copilot features embedded in Windows 11, powered by Intel’s NPUs, the system not only runs smoother but smarter.

Intel's commitment to an open AI ecosystem aligns perfectly with Microsoft’s vision for a smarter workplace. This synergy ensures our technologies are not just accessible but also pivotal in advancing how businesses operate, anticipating needs and solving problems proactively.

This collaboration between Intel’s hardware innovation and Microsoft’s AI software isn't just about keeping pace; it's about setting the pace, making our work environments more intuitive and supportive of our human efforts.

By embracing an upgrade to Windows 11 and marrying it with AI and the latest Intel technologies, organizations can embark on a transformative journey toward unparalleled productivity, security, and innovation. The future is within reach – are you ready to unlock its potential?
