Compugen has announced the success of several of its community outreach initiatives as it reaffirms its commitment to corporate citizenship through ongoing charitable work. Historically, the national IT solutions provider has encouraged individual branches across Canada to support their local foundation of choice through donations and employee volunteerism. Every year, different Compugen offices organize fundraising events such as silent auctions and raffles with staff and partners to benefit their chosen cause.

In the nation’s capital, the local Compugen team continued its work with The Snowsuit Fund, an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of quality snowsuits to needy children aged 15 and under. This year, the branch set a record by raising funds for the purchase of over 200 snowsuits for children in need. Donations were raised through the company’s local Winterfest event, which gathered Compugeners in the city along with key representatives from partner brands.

Julie Zanatta, Sales Director for Ottawa, celebrated 2023 as a “record year” for the branch in its long history of working with The Snowsuit Fund. “This was made possible through the help of this entire team,” she added.

Compugen’s Montreal office maintained its longstanding relationship with Moisson Montreal, an organization that gathers and distributes donations of food and essential products to communities on the Island of Montreal. The foundation’s warehouse spans 11,000 square metres and processes 20 million kilograms of food annually. This year, the Quebec team held a donation drive and auction. In addition to monetary commitments, local staff also dedicate their time year-round to Moisson Montreal’s beneficiary communities through volunteer work. As a result, Compugen has been named one of the few loyal donors to the organization for over five years of active giving in multiple aspects. In total, the two branches jointly raised over $12,000 for The Snowsuit Fund and Moisson Montreal.

At the Richmond Hill headquarters, the firm organized several food drives among employees throughout the year, collecting canned food and basic goods on behalf of the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank. This year they raised close to 500lbs of goods for donation.

In Alberta's capital, the local Compugen office aligned with Cisco's Partnering for Purpose initiative and supported Edmonton's Food Bank with a donation and their time. Staff contributions totalled over 200 meals to be given to families in need in the city. Compugen will continue to support this effort in the coming years to make a positive impact on communities and the planet.

Elsewhere in Canada west, Compugen is actively involved in various charitable initiatives in support of local and regional foundations, such as Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, the Calgary Food Bank, Children’s Wish Foundation of Alberta and NWT, and the Movember Canada movement.

“These are excellent achievements for our individual branches across the country. But more than isolated activities by our local offices, these successes paint a larger picture of an overarching commitment by the company to serving the various communities in which Compugen operates,” Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Terry Mirza commented. “This duty remains top of mind for the company and its employees throughout the year. We’re always looking for ways to support local organizations as a constant expression of our corporate values,” he concluded.
